I love play therapy because it allows you to process
stressful life events, thoughts, feelings and behaviors
without the pressures of finding the “right” words.

Meet Julie Galloway
Hi there! My name is Julie Galloway, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) working at my own private practice in Lafayette, LA.
I was born, raised and educated in Louisiana. Like most Cajuns, I talk with my hands and use humor to show affection to friends, family and even at the grocery store.I was raised to say “please, thank you and bless your heart.” And it doesn’t matter how old you are I will address you with a “yes sir” and “no ma’am.”
I am one of those creative types who loves to make things from scratch…that includes my gumbos, cakes, costumes and holiday decorations. I’m crafty like that. I believe that most of who I am, especially the crafty parts, came from lessons I have learned along the way with sprinkles here and there from a few bossy family members. Family is the most important element of my life through the good, bad and the boring. Family brought me through the toughest and the joyful moments and that is why I am so passionate about my work. I respect people who courageously face their fears and are willing to work on their relationships.
I gained my Master of Science degree in Counselor Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am proud to say that I am a Registered Play Therapy (RPT) and through the years, I have spent time furthering my education by earning certificates in various approaches
to better reach my clients. I also provide supervision to those therapists seeking their license and credentials. I love learning and challenging myself and others to stay current in the field of counseling which is why I am often invited to UL of Lafayette and Tennessee Tech University as a guest speaker. In April of 2021, I was honored as the Southern Sandtray Institute's guest expert which provided education to Sandtray Therapists and Play Therapists from around the world.
My professional journey has taken me through different settings which developed and perfected my therapeutic approaches. I have had the privilege to help hundreds of individuals and families who are lost in life’s struggle. Irvin Yalom says it best life as a therapist is a life service in which we daily transcend our personal wishes and turn our gaze toward the needs and growth of others...taking pleasure in the ripple effects.
